BMW i8 Production Increased Due to High Demand

More BMW i8 to be produced, finally! When BMW first introduced the all-electric i8 sports car, the industry knew that it was going to be in-demand—but no one really knew just how high the demand for this sexy, eco-friendly car would be. Now, after a year of sales, the BMW i8 continues to fly off the lots, putting consumers on a waiting list of four and a half months. The electric sports car even sold out in the UK, where the waiting list is even longer! To help keep up with demand, BMW recently announced that the BMW i8 production will be doubled at its plant in Leipzig.

This production increase means that the assembly plant now produces 20 i8 vehicles a day, instead of 10. BMW hopes that this increase in BMW i8 production will shorten the waiting period significantly. The i8 isn’t the only member of the i-series that has needed an increase in production—the i3 has, as well. This shows that BMW is truly doing something right with these innovative all-electric vehicles that offer both eco-friendliness and sexy styling.
