It’s no secret Rolls-Royce is one of the oldest luxury automakers in the business, but it may come as a surprise to learn that after 111 years, the automaker is finally creating an SUV. The announcement first came in February, and more information has slowly been revealed since then. Even better, parent automaker BMW will be rolling in the profits when the SUV hits markets.

There’s an opportunity for a high-end luxury SUV right now, and BMW looks ready to seize it. Rivals, like Volkswagen, are already in the process of grabbing a piece of the pie, but BMW isn’t about to back down. With Rolls-Royce’s record year, 4,063 cars sold in 2014, the time seems ripe for a Rolls-Royce SUV.

The new Rolls-Royce, codenamed “Project Cullinan,” will look to take hold of the luxury SUV boom. While there’s no word on just when this new vehicle will be available, there’s also no rushing Rolls-Royce.

Sticking to Rolls’ style in writing as well as design and engineering, a recent press release described the newest addition to the lineup with prestige:

“This new journey begins now. We will take our time in developing and perfecting this new concept in luxury. We will include our customers, enthusiasts and media along the way and will keep you informed of our progress.”

We’re certainly looking forward to the process here! Keep-in-touch with Perillo BMW for the latest on the high-end SUV. We are excited!
