Gathering for the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach, car enthusiasts from around the world were thrilled to see the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R – a tribute to 40 years of dominating the auto industry in North America.
According to BMW, BMW of North America has been around since 1975, developing some of the best cars on the market. In fact, BMW of North America won the manufacturer’s championship with a 3.0 CSL in its first attempt in 1975. That’s why the brand is celebrating the anniversary with a remake of the iconic sports car.
“Motor racing is all about the ability of cars to mesmerize, about the unbridled joy of driving,” explains Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. “And as such it represents the heartbeat of BMW. Back in 1975, as today, winning races came down to how man and machine could work together.”
This ‘hommage’ (the extra ‘m’ is from the French) to the classic CSL is an engineering masterpiece, with an iconic ‘V’ front end, sweeping hood, long wheelbase, and kidney grille. It’s made with pure power and athleticism in mind, making it a perfect combination of new and old.
