DXM is most notable short for dextromethorphan, an ingredient in the cough syrup NyQuil. According to one report, however, dXM could soon mean the exact opposite: a 500 horsepower, 650 lb-ft BMW 5 Series sedan. With that kind of power, this BMW will jolt its passengers awake with a touch of a pedal.
Reports say that BMW is considering creating a sportier diesel 5 Series with the specs mentioned above. The only diesel models BMW current offers in the U.S. is the 335d and X5 xDrive35d – which are both powered by the same engine, receiving 265 horsepower. Reports claim that we can expect double that horsepower from this new diesel sedan.
With 650 lb-ft of torque from the diesel engine, we expect BMW to put that power on the ground thought its xDrive all-wheel drive system. All in all, this model will be fast and efficient.
Currently, BMW is not saying the diesel M5 is official, but has stated that the model is under consideration.
