BMW Team RLL raced to yet another podium and another victory in last weekend’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Oak Tree Grand Prix at Virginia International Raceway.

In the GTLM class, John Edward and Dirk Müller’s No. 56 BMW Z4 finished third, less than one second away from the leading car. Müller had started fourth and handed the car to Edwards in third, who managed to get as high as second. Unfortunately, yellow flags benefitted the No. 17 Porsche, which successfully squeezed by in the closing stages.

With this second consecutive podium and third in total, the two drivers moved up to third in the driver standings.

In the GTD class, Dane Cameron and Markus Palttala raced to their fourth victory of the season in the Turner Motorsports BMW Z4, securing their lead in the championship.

“I am thrilled with the result—many thanks to the team,” said Dirk Müller. “We were focused from qualifying onwards so we had no qualifying set-up, just the race one. As could be seen today my car was a rocket and I was able to save fuel. It paid off as I was able to stay out longer and gain positions.”
