PGA Golfer Hunter Mahan Received a BMW i3 with Hole-in-One Shot

College sophomore Melyzjah Smith will forever love PGA golfer Hunter Mahan. Why you might ask? At the 2013 BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois, Mahan hit a hole-in-one on the 17th hole. With this shot, Mahan received a BMW i3 and scored a full four-year tuition and housing grant for Smith.

The BMW Hole-in-One scholarship program provides an Evans Scholarship to a predetermined student in honor of any player who scores the first hole-in-one during the BMW Championship. Smith is currently studying architectural engineering at the University of Colorado.

At The Barclays golf tournament held last month in Paramus, New Jersey, Mahan received his BMW i3 and got to meet Smith.

The BMW i3 is constructed primarily out of carbon fiber, which gives the fully electric vehicle a low curb weight and a strong structure. The i3’s 22-kWh lithium-ion battery is good for 80-100 miles of pure electric driving.

Here at Perillo BMW, we want to congratulate Hunter Mahan on his amazing hole-in-one shot and, of course, wish Melyzjah Smith great success in her college career. If you’re interested in going electric, come check out the BMW i3 available now.
