It’s hard to believe that it’s already time for another Super Bowl! Other than the matchup between the Ravens and the 49ers, many Americans look forward to enjoying the day with food, drinks, friends, and of course—Super Bowl commercials.
Rumors are already starting to form about which companies will present ads this year. It has been said that BMW will once again be making an appearance with its ads this year.
Over the years, BMW has put out some memorable advertisements, including this comical one from last year, which highlighted the features of the new 3-Series:

BMW is supplying the official cars for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England. Kicking off the Games on July 27th, BMW’s Olympic Livery will consist of over 40 3-Series and 5-Series models which will be available to transport athletes and officials to their competitions.
In efforts to keep the Olympic Games as green as possible, BMW had to meet the strict emissions threshold set forth by the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG). To achieve this, BMW’s 2012 Olympic Games fleet will include hybrids, electric vehicles, diesels, and even bicycles. Approximately 4,000 units will be used by BMW at the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games.
In addition to being environmentally friendly, the BMW fleet of vehicles is quite eye catching. The festive and colorful designs will adorn each BMW vehicle participating in their Olympic Livery.
The BMW 3 Series has been named to Car and Driver magazine’s 10Best Cars list for 2012. This marks the unprecedented 21st consecutive year that the BMW 3 Series has been named to the automotive magazine’s list.
This list, which has come out annually since 1983, is based on the best performing vehicles available for the year that are priced below $80,000.
The BMW 3 Series was first introduced in the United States in 1977 and is entering its sixth generation. The 2012 3 Series is available as a coupe, convertible, and sport wagon and also has two- and all-wheel drive variants.
Other BMW vehicles that have appeared on the 10Best List include the 5 Series and Z3 models.
In February 2012, the sixth generation of BMW 3 Series Sedan will launch the new BMW 328i and 335i Sedans which will feature an 8-speed automatic transmission and Auto Start/Stop technology that will make the vehicle more efficient.
Heads up display (HUD) technology was originally developed for use in fighter jets to provide the pilot with crucial data in an easy to access display to prevent distraction. This same technology will now be added to all BMW 3 Series vehicles built in 2012.
The full-color heads up display in the 3 Series will provide the driver with data about the car’s speed and navigation in a virtual form within the direct field of vision.
BMW was the first European automaker to adapt heads up display technology for used in production vehicles. It has been a large part of BMW’s ConnectedDrive system in the BMW 5 Series since 2004.
The full-color heads up display should be an option for almost of the BMW series.
BMW has been contemplating bringing U.S. drivers the first diesel vehicle to enter the 3 series. BMW’s head of sales and marketing, Ian Robertson spoke to Inside Line about BMW’s diesel consideration and how negative feelings about diesel cars are diminishing.
“The X5 diesel is doing well in the U.S,” Robertson said. “From month-to-month it accounts for a third or half of sales. It is still an issue of getting bums on seats. U.S. buyers are still astonished by how good a modern diesel is.”
Even though diesel popularity is rising, BMW still doesn’t think they would sell more than a thousand 3 Series diesel vehicles in one year in the U.S. Robertson believes that sport-activity vehicles are still very popular in the U.S. and that BMW would have to do some drastic reworking of the vehicles to make the diesel vehicles a bit hit. So even though the diesel debut is slow going, things may change in the future. American drivers may see BMW 3 Series diesel vehicles in dealerships after all.
